<img src="http://www.spacejunk.org/spacejunk/wp-content/images/movie-review/theyliveposter.jpg" width="250" height="308"" alt="They Live" />In this audio edition of the Film Junk Must See DVD review, Jay and Matt sit down to discuss John Carpenter’s classic sci-fi-actioner, They Live.

Nada, a down-on-his-luck construction worker, discovers a pair of special sunglasses. Wearing them, he is able to see the world as it really is: people being bombarded by media and government with messages like “Stay Asleep”, “No Imagination”, “Submit to Authority”. Even scarier is that he is able to see that some usually normal-looking people are in fact ugly aliens in charge of the massive campaign to keep humans subdued.

Goon here, checking in after a long time from actual reviewing. I remembered why I had took so long between uploading items when I went to post this quick audio review. I was horrified to find out I had thrown away the final product with a musical intro and outro, and only had this worse audio version of it left behind. Well I figured I would put it up anyways and hope my second go around goes better than the first. I hope you can suffer your way through this not-so-clean sounding 10 minute review of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

In this second episode of the Film Junk Quick Review, Jay talks about one of his favourite horror films of all time, John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness.

<img src="http://www.spacejunk.org/spacejunk/wp-content/images/movies/prince_of_darkness.jpg" width="220" height="343"" alt="Prince of Darkness" />For this installment of the horribly named ‘Film Junk Quick Review’, I talk about one of my favourite horror films of all time…John Carpenter’s Prince of Darkness. Here’s the synopsis:

When a group of graduate students and scientists discover an ancient canister containing an evil looking liquid in an abandoned church, all hell breaks loose. Shortly after the discovery, the liquid seems to come alive, generating an evil energy that systematically turns members of the group into zombies. But even worse, it releases Satan, thus paving the way for the return of his powerful father – the all-powerful Anti-God.

Anyone who listens to the Film Junk podcast on a regular basis probably knows that i’m a huge John Carpenter fan, so you can probably guess where this review is heading. Still, it’s worth checking out. Especially if you’ve never seen or heard of this film. Trust me dude, you’re missing out.

Welcome to the very first Film Junk Quick Review! (Working Title) In this series of short podcasts, Jay reviews classic (or-not-so-classic) films that he's recently had the opportunity to watch. For this first episode, he talks about Vanishing Point.

<img src="http://www.spacejunk.org/spacejunk/wp-content/images/movie-review/vanishing_point2.jpg" width="200" height="300"" alt="Vanishing Point" />Welcome to the very first episode of Film Junk Quick Review! Alright, i’ll admit the name is pretty lame, so i’m open to suggestions. Anyways, this is the show where I (being me, Jay) give a quick audio review of a classic (or not-so-classic) film that i’ve managed to watch on DVD recently. This week, in honour of the release of Grindhouse, I checked out Director Richard C. Safarian’s ‘Ultimate Car Chase Movie’, ‘Vanishing Point’. Released in 1971 by 20th Century Fox, the film is definitely a cult classic and features one hell of an extended car chase. If you happened to be one of the few folks who loved Tarantino’s ‘Death Proof’, you’ll definitely want to check out the main inspiration for his grand finale that, for many, has now taken the top spot as the ultimate car chase scene in film history. Have a listen, and stay tuned for future episodes of my Film Junk quick reviews!
