James Wan may have opted out of directing the third Conjuring film himself but horror fans should be excited to hear that he did take some time away from the Aquaman movies to direct a brand new original horror movie (which, if we’re being honest, will probably become another franchise that he eventually opts out of). The movie is called Malignant and Warner Brothers have just released the first trailer this week. The movie stars Annabelle Wallis (Annabelle) as a woman who is plagued by terrifying nightmares only to discover that the nightmares are visions of real-life murders. In some ways it feels similar to Paranormal Activity 3 in that there is also a connection to a childhood imaginary friend. Confusingly, James Wan also co-wrote a graphic novel called Malignant Man which apparently has no connection to this movie. Malignant hits theatres and HBO Max on Sept. 10th; check out the trailer below and see what you think.
