With a third season of What We Do in the Shadows coming to FX in September and the spin-off series Wellington Paranormal currently airing on The CW and HBO Max, Taika Waititi is already busy with a couple of well-received TV shows (plus he has a couple of movies currently in post-production). Now he is also teaming up with Native American filmmaker Sterlin Harjo to bring another comedy series to Hulu next month called Reservation Dogs. The show revolves around four Indigenous teenagers living in rural Oklahoma who steal, rob and save with the goal of eventually moving to the “exotic, mysterious and faraway land of California.” It is unclear just how involved Taika Waititi will be but he did co-write the pilot with Harjo and the trailer carries his playful tone. That being said, the unique backdrop and fresh cast of characters seem to be the real draw here. Reservation Dogs premieres on Aug. 9th; check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.
