Memoria Trailer Starring Tilda Swinton

Thai filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul is a director who seems to have fully earned his reputation as a visionary artist based on previous works like Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives and Cemetery of Splendor. His latest film Memoria finds him teaming up with Tilda Swinton for his English language debut, a mysterious drama with a curious premise: a Scottish woman hears a loud bang at daybreak and begins to experience a strange sensory syndrome while travelling through the jungles of Colombia. It’s difficult to tell from the trailer what else goes on in this movie but clearly it will deliver a combination of striking imagery and unnerving sound design. Memoria premieres at Cannes this week before getting a theatrical release courtesy of Neon later this year; check out the trailer below and see what you think.
