Focus Features has released the first trailer for Edgar Wright’s upcoming horror film Last Night in Soho, which will be his first time tackling the genre head on without the comedic tone he is generally known for. The movie stars Thomasin McKenzie as an aspiring fashion designer who finds herself mysteriously transported back to 1960s London where she has a strange connection with her idol, a glamorous wannabe singer (played by Anya Taylor-Joy). The rest of the story is difficult to discern from the trailer but there is definitely a lot of coloured lighting and a bit of a giallo aesthetic as well as a ’60s and ’70s slow burn feel. Co-written by Krysty Wilson-Cairns (1917, Penny Dreadful), the movie also stars Matt Smith, Diana Rigg, Rita Tushingham, Terence Stamp and Margaret Nolan. Last Night in Soho hits theatres on Oct. 22nd; check out the trailer below and see what you think.
