Leos Carax’s long-awaited follow up to his 2012 film Holy Motors has just been announced as the opening film for this year’s Cannes Film Festival. To coincide with that, the first trailer for the film has been released online revealing another mysterious visual marvel. Annette stars Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard as a stand-up comedian and world-renowned opera singer who fall in love in Los Angeles only to have their world turned upside down by the birth of their first child. Featuring original songs and a score by Sparks, the movie is Carax’s English-language debut and will be released by Amazon in North America sometime this summer.
