Originally announced last year under the somewhat uninspired title Connected, Sony’s upcoming animated movie The Mitchells vs. The Machines has since been acquired by Netflix and will debut on the streaming service next month. The movie is produced by Phil Lord and Chris Miller and is written and directed by Michael Rianda and Jeff Rowe (Gravity Falls). The plot revolves around a modern, tech-addicted family that embarks on a road trip in order to spend some quality time together before their daughter goes off to college. Little do they know, they are about to become the world’s last defense against a global robot uprising. The Mitchells vs. The Machines features the voices of Olivia Colman, Maya Rudolph, Abbi Jacobson, Danny McBride and Eric André and it arrives on Netflix on April 30th. Wow that does not look good. I was waiting to smile the entire trailer and I didn’t once…considering the talent involved I was disappointed.

  • The Mae Shi being used in the trailer for an animated family movie coming to Netflix is not something I ever thought I would see/hear. Are children into experimental punk music from 2008 these days?
