DC fans may not be getting the David Ayer cut of Suicide Squad anytime soon, but they do have James Gunn’s soft reboot The Suicide Squad to look forward to this year and that’s not at all a bad thing. Perhaps hoping to get people’s minds off the so-called SnyderVerse, WB has just released the first trailer for the movie this week and it showcases another wacky roster of strange characters and a tone that feels (surprise!) very similar to Guardians of the Galaxy. With a mix of new and returning cast members, the movie finds Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney and Viola Davis reprising their roles while Idris Elba, Michael Rooker, John Cena, Alice Braga, Nathan Fillion, Pete Davidson, Peter Capaldi and Steve Agee are all new additions to the squad. The Suicide Squad hits theatres and HBO Max on Aug. 6th; check out the red band trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.
