Disney’s Cruella Trailer Starring Emma Stone

cruella

The first trailer has arrived for Disney’s upcoming film Cruella, a live-action prequel that follows in the footsteps of Maleficent by providing the back story for another iconic Disney villain. Emma Stone stars as Estella de Vil, a young fashion designer who becomes obsessed with furs in 1970s London and eventually goes on to become the ruthless heiress we all know from 101 Dalmatians. Directed by Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya, Fright Night), the movie co-stars Emma Thompson, Mark Strong, Paul Walter Hauser, Emily Beecham and Joel Fry. The trailer does not specify if this will get a theatrical release or go straight to Disney+ (the latter had previously been rumoured) but it does commit to a May release date which seems to indicate that Disney is playing it by ear and making a game time decision. Cruella arrives on May 28th; check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.

Stop making Disney villains likeable/sympathetic with prequels challenge

wonder if it will be inspiring to INCELs as JOKER was and Reed will demand that it shouldn’t be released.

  • Lori Cerny

I didn’t think the trailer made her sympathetic – campy, yes, sympathetic, no.

Looks like another Harley Quinn tale, but I will watch it. Hopefully, there is more to the backstory than her being jilted.

I forgot about that. How people thought that movie would make society collapse. In the end it was just another juvenile comic book turd
