HBO has released the first teaser trailer for The Nevers, their upcoming sci-fi fantasy series set in Victorian London where people (mostly women) gain strange and sometimes disturbing powers. They are known as the “Touched” and they are discriminated against until together they decide to stand up and fight back against the powers that be. The show was created by Joss Whedon who was originally acting as showrunner until he was forced to step down last year apparently due to the on-going Justice League investigation. British screenwriter Philippa Goslett (Little Ashes, How to Talk to Girls at Parties) has replaced him but there are certainly still some Whedon-isms in here for better or worse (gotta love those three-point landings). The Nevers stars Laura Donnelly, Olivia Williams, James Norton, Tom Riley, Ann Skelly, Nick Frost and Eleanor Tomlinson and it arrives on HBO in April.
