Young Rock Trailer: Dwayne Johnson’s Autobiographical Sitcom Comes to NBC in February

NBC has released the full trailer for their upcoming sitcom Young Rock, which is based on Dwayne Johnson’s life growing up in the ’80s and ’90s as the son of a professional wrestler. Following the format of previous shows like Everybody Hates Chris, The Goldbergs and Fresh Off the Boat (which is also executive produced by Nanatchka Khan and Jeff Chiang), the series weaves autobiographical stories with nostalgia and comedy as we catch up with Johnson at various stages in his life as a troubled teenager, a college football player and a young wrestler. The framing device of Dwayne Johnson running for president in 2032 might make your eyes roll, but the stories about WWF superstars like Andre the Giant and Sgt. Slaughter seem too good to pass up. Young Rock premieres on NBC on Feb. 16th; check out the trailer below and see what you think.

  • Frankie must be so excited for this.
