Chris Evans Reportedly in Talks to Return as Captain America

Although Avengers: Endgame marked the end of an era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and seemed to make some pretty definitive decisions regarding various characters, we all know that when it comes to comic books nothing is permanent. Several marquee characters were set to be retired heading into Phase Four but flashbacks, prequels and timeline changes have already left the door open for many to return. Now we are hearing that Chris Evans is considering a return to the MCU as well, although he has since downplayed it a little bit on social media. Hit the jump for more details.
According to Deadline, Chris Evans is in talks to reprise his role as Captain America in at least one upcoming Marvel property. It is unclear if the deal has been finalized yet but sources say it will also leave the door open for another appearance. This does not seem to be a starring role but rather a supporting one, more akin to what Robert Downey Jr. did in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Evans has since responded on Twitter with a playful “News to me” and a shrug emoji. That is a pretty light denial and at this point I don’t think anyone believes that he wouldn’t return despite previously stating that he wouldn’t want to undermine such a fitting end to Steve Rogers’ journey. Are you excited to see Captain America return or should they just leave the character alone?
