Malcolm & Marie Trailer Starring Zendaya and John David Washington

Looks like Netflix has one more potential awards season candidate coming in under the wire this year as they have just released the first trailer for the upcoming drama Malcolm & Marie, which has been completely off the radar up until now. The movie stars John David Washington and Zendaya as a filmmaker and his girlfriend who find their relationship tested after he arrives home following his latest movie premiere. Much like Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story, this looks like another tense and emotional experience, but it appears to be even more stripped down as it is presented in black-and-white and takes place in a single location (it was shot last year under COVID-19 safety protocols). Directed by Sam Levinson (Euphoria, Assassination Nation), Malcolm & Marie will premiere in select theatres this month before hitting Netflix on Feb. 5th.
