Lapsis Trailer: A Sci-Fi Satire About the Gig Economy
Last year’s SXSW film festival didn’t happen as originally intended and only a handful of movies ended up screening online, leaving a lot of indie films without a way to build buzz. Among them was the sci-fi film Lapsis which earned some strong early reviews from critics who were able to see it and is now finally coming to VOD and virtual cinema next month. The movie takes place in an alternate version of the present where quantum computing is a reality and workers are being hired to run cables between strange magnetic cubes across dangerous terrain. These workers are unprotected and forced to compete against robots in an absurd yet all too familiar scenario where corporations rule and employees gets screwed. Director Noah Hutton also had the intriguing neuroscience documentary In Silico premiere virtually last year but hopefully both films will find their way out to a wider audience in the very near future. Lapsis hits VOD on Feb. 12th; check out the trailer below and see what you think.
