2020 Junkers’ Choice Award Winners

With 2020 officially behind us, it’s time to find out how our loyal readers and listeners felt about this overwhelmingly strange year for cinema. As you can probably guess, there were a lot less votes cast this time around than in previous years. Some categories definitely suffered from a lack of options (ahem… comic book movies), but I was surprised that almost all of the categories still had a decent number of votes scattered among all of the choices. Perhaps that is a reflection of a level playing field for distribution since everyone had essentially the same VOD options at their disposable. I think it was also the first year that the movie with the most votes for Best Film also had the most votes for Biggest Disappointment (I suspect another movie might have taken over the latter if it had been given a bit more time). Our own Best of 2020 podcast will be coming next week, but in the meantime, check out the results of the 2020 Junkers’ Choice Awards below and let us know what you think.
