With the overwhelming amount of content out there these days, there is a lot of great stuff that simply fails to find an audience. Sometimes it’s not about the quality of the movie or TV show as much as it is about finding a way to get noticed. Netflix seems to have that in mind with their latest series, History of Swear Words, a tongue-in-cheek documentary series about curse words with Nic Cage acting as your esteemed host. On the surface, it seems more concerned with generating memes and social media attention than anything else, a funny idea that no one will actually watch for more than five minutes. But on the other hand, it could end up being something brilliant, or at the very least, the post-holiday binge watch we all desperately need. The show features interviews with scholars and academics as well as guest stars like Nick Offerman, Sarah Silverman, and Isiah Whitlock Jr. History of Swear Words arrives on Netflix on Jan. 5th; check out the trailer below.
