There may not be much in the way of new movies being released at the moment, but to a certain group of movie fans, this may be even better. The producers of the long lost horror sequel Grizzly II: Revenge have, after 37 years, somehow managed to get the legendary film completed and will be releasing it into the wild early next year. The original film was shot in Hungary in 1983 but before it could be finished, one of the executive producers disappeared with all of the money. A poor quality workprint version of the film has been floating around since 2007 but now we are apparently getting a re-edited, “proper” release, which is pretty crazy considering that the movie stars George Clooney, Laura Dern, Charlie Sheen, Louise Fletcher and John Rhys-Davies. Clooney, Dern and Sheen don’t appear to have much screen time, but the movie does feature live performances from several ’80s bands in front of a crowd of 50,000 extras. Grizzly II: Revenge arrives in select theatres and on VOD on Jan. 8th; check out the trailer below and see what you think.
