Although it seems unlikely that the original live-action Star Wars Holiday Special will ever get an official re-release from Lucasfilm even under new ownership, this year Disney is putting together a brand new animated special that at least acknowledges it indirectly. The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special is a brand new 44 minute adventure that picks up after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (does that make it canon?) but through some sort of time travel device brings Rey back through other eras of Star Wars history in celebration of Life Day. Kelly Marie Tran, Billy Dee Williams and Anthony Daniels lend their voices along with several members of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars voice cast. For better or worse, it looks like a very self-aware, very family-friendly Star Wars spin-off but whether it will be a travesty on par with the original remains to be seen. The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special arrives on Disney+ on Nov. 17th; check out the trailer below and see what you think.
