Now that theatres have reopened in China, Jackie Chan’s latest film Vanguard is one of many new releases attempting to bring moviegoers back to the cinema. That being said, the movie does not seem to be one of his bigger hits (it reportedly performed the worst out of all the major releases for China’s National Day Golden Week last month). Directed by long-time collaborator Stanley Tong (Rumble in the Bronx, Supercop), it stars Jackie Chan as an accountant who is being chased by mercenaries and protected by a covert security company called Vanguard. The set up makes a certain amount of sense considering that he is doing less stuntwork himself these days and instead relying on younger action stars to handle the heavy lifting. Vanguard is set to hit U.S. theatres on Nov. 20th but no VOD release has been announced as of yet. Check out the trailer below and see what you think.
