In regards to Sean’s question about Hammer movies: Scream Factory is releasing a lot of the more well known ones on Blu. Here are my favorites, although I haven’t seen a lot and none of the big franchises like Dracula or Frankenstein:

The Quatermass Xperiment/Quatermass II/Quatermass and the Pit
    The Abominable Snowman
    X the Unknown
    Twins of Evil
    The Hound of the Baskervilles

I can’t think of an actor more British than Sir Olivier, so I died at “Laurence Olivier, who was at the time the greatest living American actor” ????
But amazing to have Zak and Reed on the same show!

  • Reed Farrington

This is why I need notes.

  • Sam

Also, Indicator has released I believe 5 Box Sets, each with like 4 or 5 films in each.

I definitely would also recommend the Quatermass series and The Hound of the Baskervilles.

    Would also recommend:
    Curse of Frankenstein
    Horror of Dracula
    Brides of Dracula
    Cash on Demand
    Taste of Fear

In answer to Lori in the Patreon comments, no, I haven’t seen Moonstruck or Jesus Christ Superstar. I didn’t know Jewison had directed Superstar. He’s as versatile as Robert Wise. Stanley Kubrick should have directed a musical.

  • Sean

Thanks guys. I’ve seen The Hound of the Baskervilles already but I own Quatermass and the Pit so maybe I’ll watch that next.

  • Sam

Not Hammer, but I Frank mentioned it on the show when looking up Christopher Lee commentaries, but City of the Dead (aka Horror Hotel) is great and worth checking out.

  • Reed Farrington

In answer to Matthew in the Patreon comments, I probably was thinking of American Beauty with regards to the dead narrator.

  • Matt the Kiwi

Sorry Reed – I should’ve posted my comments on here (so used to going to the Patreon site now I keep forgetting that not everyone is there).

  • Matt the Kiwi

Quatermass and the Pit is a Hammer production (one of their better ones in my opinion) but keep in mind that it is a sequel so you might want to check out the original first. Doesn’t really matter but I didn’t realise when I watched it so wondered why they were referencing something I had no idea about. The original (The Quatermass Xperiment) is pretty cool and reminiscent of The Thing but haven’t seen Quatermass 2 so can’t comment on that. I’m not a complete Quatermassochist!

  • Lior

I’m on Patreon but I still prefer commenting here. I don’t like the comments section on Patreon. It’s too bad the conversation has splintered this way.

  • Lior

I wonder if Reed will think The Birds 2: Land’s End is also better than the original. Go for it Reed! :-)

  • Lior

Also don’t miss The Karnstein Trilogy, that’s when Hammer became a bit more lurid.

  • Reed Farrington

Oh, I forgot there was a sequel to The Birds.

Sunset Boulevard is one of those classics I haven’t seen, yet. I wonder if I’ll have an attraction for Gloria Swanson.

  • Reed Farrington

Lior, what’s wrong with the comments section on Patreon?

  • Lior

It’s not as easy to edit, the fonts are very small, you have to keep loading comments…

  • TimC

We do not deserve Reed Farrington.

  • Lior

    You will.

Brian Rooney over at Patreon brought up the idea of a Woody Allen premium again, mentioning it’s a bit of a blind spot for Film Junk. I suppose Woody is like Albert Brooks without the anger. I think the Film Junk generation is more into the Jack Ass / YouTube type of humour. I don’t laugh at the people humiliating themselves like Jay and his friends do.

Google is paying $190 every hour…On Tuesday I got a great new Land Rover Range-Rover from having earned $24151 this last four weeks…(b1910) It sounds unbelievable but you wont forgive yourself if you don’t check it >>>> |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
