Ron Howard’s Hillbilly Elegy Trailer
Netflix is bolstering their awards chances even further this year with the addition of Ron Howard’s latest film Hillbilly Elegy to their fall line-up. Based on the memoir by J. D. Vance, the movie revolves around a dysfunctional Appalachian family across three generations as they struggle with working class poverty and addiction. The book was seen as an essential examination of middle America that helped explain the election of Donald Trump back in 2016. Amy Adams and Glenn Close star as daughter and mother with the latter outfitted in plenty of prosthetics and makeup, seemingly unabashed in their embrace of Oscar cliches. Gabriel Basso, Haley Bennett, Freida Pinto and Bo Hopkins also co-star. Hillbilly Elegy will play in select theatres next month before arriving on Netflix on Nov. 24th; check out the trailer below and see what you think.
