I’ve extended an invitation a few times but he hasn’t been interested unfortunately. It’s a little harder since he doesn’t have internet access at home so he would have to park somewhere that has free wifi. Which would be amazing, obviously, but I think it’s an extra hassle for him.

I’ve got a good film recommendation for anyone who believes the media when it says both that covid is just a slightly bad flu which 98.54% of people recover from and that we are in an unprecedented pandemic that requires permanent changes to the fabric of how our societies work.

It’s good thing for the media that we’ve become a world of guilt-ridden hypochondriacs that upon getting a sore throat commence to checking google to make sure it’s not cancer. We are doomed. Our governments are
run by characters on the level of Aztec priests and most of us are flocking to
get our hearts cut out and offered up to the spectral god of public
health and safety. It is no coincidence, I assure you, that Maximilien Robespierre was a member of Revolutionary France’s Commitee of Public Safety. Of course, for those who don’t know, in the interest of Public Safety, Robespierre had 17,000 people guillotined.

I love this notion too, that we live in an era when there are no more tyrannies. Governmental tyranny just stopped at some point, even though it has been a fundamental thread of human history, and we now apparently live in the blessed utopias that Marx could have only dreamed of. Our leaders are all magnanimous, saintly folk, who have nothing but our best interest in mind. And these same leaders tell us that anyone who thinks otherwise is deeply mentally ill, a conspiracy theorist even. Its a Sesame Street mentality and let me repeat, we are doomed for having it.
