2020 Emmy Award Winners

2020emmys

By all accounts, the 72nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were strange yet somewhat refreshing as far as awards shows tend to go with some unpredictable moments and most of the stars accepting their awards over Zoom. But when it came to the awards themselves, things were a little more predictable. Schitt’s Creek won a record nine awards in the comedy categories for its sixth and final season, which apparently was expected although it had never won previously. Meanwhile, HBO cleaned up in the dramatic categories with several wins for both Watchmen (11) and Succession (9) plus Zendaya won the Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Euphoria. Aside from these, there wasn’t much room for many other shows to get recognized although The Mandalorian did bring home a lot of the Creative Arts Emmys. What did you think of this year’s Emmys? Gotta admit, this is not how I imagined Schitt’s Creek coming to an end when I saw it on the cbc years ago. I guess I should give it another chance.
