With all these moves I’m worried the guys will never record in the same room ever again.

  • Blake in Boston

“I hate to bring it back to Manson…”

    Sure ya do, Frank.

  • Ben Bueno

Damn I didn’t think about that.
Sean how far away do you guys live from each other?

Anyone looking for further JCVD nonsense should check out his reality show Behind Closed Doors. It’s insane. I didn’t know about the Cyborg stuntman drama, but on Behind Closed Doors he’s filming a fight scene for some prison movie and he straight kicks the stuntman’s teeth out. Everybody rushes over to check on the stuntman and JCVD just sort of walks away, seeming put-out by it.

I think JCVD tried to erase the show from existence. It used to be on youtube but now you can only find short clips. It’s not available to stream and I can’t find the DVDs anywhere.

I currently live about an hour away from Jay and Frank. After the move, Jay will be more like an hour and a half away from myself and Frank. Hoping we can still do some in person episodes on special occasions but we’ll have to see what happens. Regular weekly episodes in person seems unlikely for the foreseeable future.

  • He also shared his love for Belgian stray dogs in that one if I remember correctly.

For JCVD nonsense you obviously have to see Jean-Claude Van Johnson, very funny show.

  • Ben Bueno

I see. I hope things work out!

I binged that on a Thanksgiving weekend ages ago when it was on cable tv. I don’t fault JCVD for the prison scene mishap. I remember him complaining about the lack of prep of the stunt and the direction beforehand. The production treated that “stuntman” (prolly some extra they gave $100) like a crash test dummy.

I remember one episode of JCVD chilling with his Russian “friend”, but it seemed like this guy was some wealthy Russian oligarch who crushed on JCVD back in the day and their hangouts looked like dates, where the guy paid for everything and JCVD was his man-whore! LOL

I need to find this show!

The director’s cut of The Abyss is far superior to the theatrical cut, it’s the difference between 4 and 5 stars, between a good action-sci fi film and an epic with a deep message.
I don’t get the continuous criticism regarding Cameron’s dialogue. The guy’s only fault is that his dialogue style is more sincere than that of most “cool” writer-directors working in the industry. Is it worse than Christopher Nolan’s dialogue? I don’t think so. How can a filmmaker with supposedly such bad dialogue insert so many memorable one-liners into the pop culture vernacular? And not in an ironic way?

Another thing I don’t get is the continued backlash against Godfather III, even 40 years after it was made. I still stand by the claim that it is a great movie and terribly underrated today, even by its own makers apparently. Coppola tried to “fix” Apocalypse Now with the Redux version, a version where the pacing and tone are way off, so I don’t really look forward to any directors cut of Godfather III.

Yeah I remember thinking that the moment that Russian dude bought him that expensive caviar.
