Console Wars Trailer

With the latest next-gen console war set to kick off this holiday season, CBS All Access is debuting a feature-length documentary that brings us back a few decades to the ’90s and the epic 16-bit battle between Nintendo and Sega. Based on the book by Blake J. Harris (who also co-directs the doc) and executive produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, Console Wars tells the story from the perspective of former Sega of America CEO Tom Kalinske, who was faced with seemingly impossible task of competing with The House of Mario. The recent Netflix documentary series High Score also had an episode that covered this era of video game history, but this looks like it will be much more in-depth (albeit using very similar pixel art animated sequences). Console Wars arrives on CBS All Access on Sept. 23rd; check out the trailer below and see what you think.

Is there still going to be an adaption of this book for a tv series? I recall when this was announced that there suppose to be a narrative telling of this as a limited series in addition to the doc, but can’t seem to find much on that anymore. Still excited for the doc though if that’s all we’re getting.

Yeah I think the dramatized limited series is still in development from Rogen and Goldberg as well. It has a separate entry on IMDb.

    Added to my watchlist.
