Although Chloe Zhao’s Marvel movie Eternals was originally supposed to hit theatres this November, it was pushed back to early next year due to COVID-19 delays. In the meantime, the good news is that we will get to see her next drama very soon and it seems to have a similar vibe to her previous acclaimed film, The Rider. Based on the book Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century by Jessica Bruder, it stars Frances McDormand as a woman who loses her job due to the Great Recession and is forced to live in her van as a modern day nomad. The movie looks to explore the lives of folks living on the edge of society not unlike Leave No Trace or American Honey and it premieres on the same night this week at the Venice Film Festival, TIFF and Telluride. Nomadland hits select theatres on Dec. 4th; check out the first teaser trailer below and see what you think.
