It’s been a long time coming, but after several years of development (first as a movie, then eventually as a limited TV series) Josh Boone’s adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand will finally arrive before the end of the year. Considering the fact that the plot involves a virus wiping out most of humanity, the timing seems appropriate (or maybe a little too appropriate). King’s 1978 novel was previously adapted for TV in 1994 by Mick Garris with four 90-minute episodes, but this new version is attempting to capture the epic scope of the book over 10 hours instead. The first teaser trailer has arrived online this week and although it doesn’t show much, it is probably more than enough to get King fans excited. The Stand stars James Marsden, Alexander Skarsgard, Amber Heard, Whoopi Goldberg, Greg Kinnear, Marilyn Manson, Hamish Linklater, Heather Graham and Clifton Collins Jr. and it arrives on CBS All Access on Dec. 17th.
