Rocky IV Director’s Cut Might Remove Paulie’s Robot

Although Lionsgate just announced a new 4K steelbook collection for all five Rambo movies this week, it looks like there may be a new Rocky release on the horizon as well. Sylvester Stallone revealed this week that he is working on a new Director’s Cut of Rocky IV, which would seem to imply that he has some things he would like to change about the 1985 classic. There is no question that the Rocky franchise makes some big tonal shifts throughout the original six movies (not to mention the two Creed films) so perhaps he is looking to smooth those over. He made the announcement via Instagram:
If you are curious about what he might be changing, look no further than the Instagram comments. The AV Club noticed that Stallone responded to some fans joking about the robot that Paulie receives for his birthday with the following: “the robot is going to the junkyard forever, no more robot.” Bummer. Still, it’s hard not to be curious about what a more grounded version of Rocky IV might look like. As for when we will see this new version of the movie, it might be soon since it is supposed to be for the 35th Anniversary of the movie (which is this year). Are you excited to see Stallone’s new cut of Rocky IV?
