After the success of Netflix’s adaptation of Shirley Jackson’s The Haunting of Hill House, a second season of the show should have been all but guaranteed… and it probably would have been, had it not been created as a standalone mini-series. Fortunately, writer-director Mike Flanagan has been given the opportunity to turn it into an anthology series of sorts with a new season focusing on a different ghost story instead. The Haunting of Bly Manor will draw from Henry James’ 1898 novella The Turn of The Screw while also mixing in several other stories by James as well, and although it is unconnected to The Haunting of Hill House, it does once again take place in an old mansion. With a cast that includes Victoria Pedretti (You), Oliver Jackson-Cohen (The Invisible Man), Henry Thomas (E.T.) and Catherine Parker (Absentia), this seems likely to be another Halloween hit for Netflix. The Haunting of Bly Manor arrives on Oct. 9th; check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.
