Although it’s still unclear what kind of shape U.S. theatres will be in come Halloween, currently the Candyman reboot is still scheduled to drop in October and now Focus Features has just announced a new horror movie for October as well called Come Play. Writer-director Jacob Chase makes his feature directorial debut here with a story that feels a bit like a digital version of The Babadook. A young autistic boy named Oliver (Azhy Robertson) is terrorized by a demon or monster of some sort that can apparently only be seen through smart phones and mobile devices. Gillian Jacobs and John Gallagher Jr. play his mother and father. The movie bears the Amblin Entertainment logo although it does not appear that Steven Spielberg was a producer on this. Come Play hits theatres on Oct. 29th; check out the trailer below and see what you think.
