The Toronto International Film Festival unveiled its full schedule today and to coincide with that Neon has dropped a trailer for one of the festival’s big world premieres: Francis Lee’s Ammonite. The movie takes place in the early 19th century England and it stars Kate Winslet as a palaeontologist who reluctantly takes on a young woman who is suffering from “melancholia” (Saiorse Ronan) as an assistant. Over time, an intense romantic relationship develops. It feels weird to have essentially skipped over the summer blockbusters this year to go straight into awards season, but it’s nice to know that we still have some big prestige dramas to look forward to. Ammonite hits theaters on Nov. 13th; check out the trailer below and see what you think.
