J.C. Chandor in Talks to Direct Kraven the Hunter Movie

Following up on yesterday’s news that Olivia Wilde is directing a female-led Marvel movie for Sony, we are hearing that another Sony movie in the Spider-Man universe has also landed a director. Once again, it is a director with an interesting filmography and not necessarily one we would have pegged for a big comic book adaptation. J.C. Chandor is the man behind such acclaimed dramas as Margin Call, All is Lost and A Most Violent Year (he was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for Margin Call). Most recently he directed Triple Frontier for Netflix. Hit the jump for more details.
According to Deadline, J.C. Chandor is currently in talks to direct Kraven the Hunter for Sony. Sergei Kravinoff aka Kraven the Hunter is a big game hunter and well-known Spider-Man villain who has attempted to track down and kill Spider-Man many times as a way to prove that he is the greatest hunter in the world. The script is written by Richard Wenk (The Equalizer, The Mechanic) and some have speculated that where Spider-Man: Far from Home left off (with Spider-Man as a fugitive of sorts) could lead into the fan favourite “Kraven’s Last Hunt” storyline.
Triple Frontier is probably the closest J.C. Chandor has come to a big budget action movie so far although he was also attached to direct Deepwater Horizon at one point (Peter Berg ended up taking over eventually). It will certainly be interesting to see what he can do with the material and if he can elevate it in some way. It is unclear whether this will the next Spider-Man spin-off after Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Morbius although it will also come after the next Spider-Man movie as well (once again, leading to the possibility that Kraven could be introduced in that movie first). Are you looking forward to seeing J.C. Chandor take on Kraven the Hunter?
