Star Trek: Lower Decks Trailer

Star Trek: Lower Decks

CBS has just released the first trailer for their upcoming animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks, which is definitely going where no Star Trek show has gone before. Created by Mike McMahan (Rick and Morty, Solar Opposites), this is a comedic take on the franchise that is aimed at adults without quite getting into R-rated territory. It revolves around the support crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos and the not-so-glamorous side of life on a Federation starship with a voice cast that includes Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noël Wells, Eugene Cordero and Jerry O’Connell. It’s a tricky thing to be attempting to parody Star Trek from within and I’m not quite sure if this will be successful; either way, you can be sure it will be directly compared to things like Galaxy Quest and The Orville. Star Trek: Lower Decks arrives on CBS All Access on Aug. 7th; check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.

I mean… I’ll probably watch it, but the animation style seems bland, and cheap.

Why does every animated show look exactly the same. So bored of that artstyle. And why is there so much demand for goofy space shows all of a sudden? Hard pass.
