Frank is gonna be sweating if he ever finds out that TLOU 2 has a very detailed chapter select that tells you how many collectibles are in the chapter and how many of each you’ve found. Also after finding a collectible it will auto save and you can exit out of the level and it will count. They basically fixed every collectible issue/complaint from the first game.

Also bummed that no Ubi Art games were present or even planned. I’ve been playing through Rayman Legend with my girlfriend and we’re loving that game. I also have fond memories of Valiant Heats and Child of Light, so it’s a shame that they’re abandoning the Ubi Art framework. I wonder if they just weren’t profitable enough?

In the article I had read, they just said that the tools were hard to work with, so teams didn’t want to make games with them. It’s definitely possible to get that art style with other tools though (I think we mentioned that on the show), so it’s definitely possible that sales didn’t meet their expectations

Bummer to hear. As much as I’ve loved some 2D platformers (Dead Cells, Rogue Legacy, Shovel Knight, etc.), it’s great to see artwork and graphics being pushed in this realm (a la Ori), as hand drawn Mario was my future vision of videogames when I was a wee pup.

It’s so weird hearing Frank say “ooo-be-soft”. I always pronounce it as “You-be-soft”, and i’m far from being the only one. Isn’t the former pronunciation only used among French speakers?

  • Sean

I am always confused about the correct pronunciation. When you see trailers and credit sequences in their games it usually says “A Ubisoft Production”, which implies it is pronounced “You-bisoft”. But I feel like everyone I know (including people who work there) say “ooo-bisoft”.

    Perhaps this will help:

It seems like there is not one right answer.

The funny thing is, it was pronounced inconsistently even within the show. Andrew pronounced it You-be-soft!

  • Jay Cheel

    Regional dialect!

  • Sam

Other gaming podcasts I listen to (Giant Beastcast) I believe pronounce it as Ooo-bisoft like Sean and Frank. I originally pronounced it You-bisoft but after listening to them for years, Ooo-bisoft just seems right.

I also use to say ooo-be-soft, but changed how I said it after I interviewed there and everyone I talked to said it You-be-soft, so I changed to not look stupid and just kept it up ;)
