Surprised that Frank never mentioned the prevalent film grain in The Last of Us Part II. I for one appreciate the filmic quality it adds to the near photorealism on display. So, is Frankie finally on team #retainthegrain?

    Frank is sweating.

I’m honestly shocked by the amount of resources TLOU 2 is always giving me on medium difficulty. I am pretty much only short on one craftable item and one gun type at a given time. I’ve consistently not been able to pick up ammo because my ammo reserves are stocked full. I’ve forced myself to do less knife stealth kills so I’m not walking past resources so much.

I played it on Survivor difficulty and did not have this problem. You can adjust the difficulty settings to custom and bump up the challenge of item availability without changing enemy alertness, player vulnerability, etc..

Yeah I know, and have been thinking of doing that, but kind of want the vanilla or “intended” experience for a first play through. I just thought it was interesting that a game that obviously still wears a “survival horror” hat would default to being so generous.

  • Ironically enough I am mostly stocked up on regular rifle ammo, having to leave dozens of bullets behind whilst scavenging for shotgun shells (although I can now make them myself). But generally I’d second that the game is really looking after you if your’re playing on Normal difficulty. Usually I’m stocked up on shivs as well (as Abby). Based on certain confrontations I don’t really envy playing those on a harder level, without even thinking about doing it on Grounded.
