Unsolved Mysteries Reboot Trailer

Unsolved Mysteries is back… again. The documentary series originally aired in the late ’80s and throughout the ’90s where it was hosted by Robert Stack and ran for 9 successful seasons on NBC, presenting a mix of cold cases and spooky paranormal phenomena through interviews and reenactments. The show eventually switched networks and then faded away before being revived in 2007 by Spike, but the new version only lasted a couple of years until it was cancelled again. Now Netflix is relaunching the show with the help of the original creators and producer Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum, Stranger Things). Given the surge of interest in true crime documentaries you might think they would focus solely on that, but there still appears to be some paranormal stuff in here too. The new format will not have a host and will feature one mystery per episode with the first six dropping on July 1st. Check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

“The new format will not have a host”. How are they going to scare children without a creepy host?

Uh, WOW… that look so scripted and so staged. I’m giving it a pre-watch of 2 out of 10.

I think the paranormal stuff is to save $$$. You know, no reason to have researchers or fact-checkers or case documents. Just throw some smoke bombs in a forest and play spoooooky music.
