Looks like yet another ’80s cult classic is getting a remake, although maybe not in the way you might expect. Martha Coolidge’s 1983 romantic comedy Valley Girl is very much a product of its time, and if you are thinking that it wouldn’t really work in a modern setting, apparently the folks behind the upcoming remake agree with you. The new version retains the ’80s time period and soundtrack, but they have changed it to become a full-on musical. The original starred a young Nicolas Cage as a Hollywood punk who falls in love with a girl from the Valley (Deborah Foreman). The new version stars Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day) and Josh Whitehouse (The Knight Before Christmas) along with Chloe Bennet, Peyton List, Mae Whitman, Camila Morrone, Judy Greer, Alicia Silverstone, Rob Huebel and Logan Paul. Valley Girl is directed by Rachel Lee Goldenberg and it hits VOD on May 8th; check out the trailer below and see what you think.
