Hollywood Trailer: Ryan Murphy Rewrites Tinseltown History

Last year Quentin Tarantino gave us his alternate history of late ’60s Hollywood with Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and although there had been some talk that he was also considering turning it into a TV series, it looks like Ryan Murphy (Glee, American Horror Story) may have beaten him to the punch. Murphy’s upcoming series Hollywood, co-created by frequent collaborator Ian Brennan, goes back a couple of decades to the post-World War II Golden Age of Hollywood and focuses on several aspiring actors and filmmakers struggling against the systemic discrimination of the time. Not unlike Tarantino’s film, the limited series also seems to promise an uplifting and aspirational take on the way things should have gone, leaving it somewhat unclear just how much of the show is based in reality. Hollywood stars Darren Criss, David Corenswet, Jeremy Pope, Laura Harrier, Samara Weaving, Dylan McDermott, Jim Parsons, Queen Latifah, Mira Sorvino and Rob Reiner and it arrives on Netflix on May 1st; check out the trailer below and see what you think.
