The Eddy Trailer: Damien Chazelle’s Upcoming Netflix Series

With Whiplash and La La Land, Damien Chazelle made it pretty clear that he has a passion for jazz (indeed, Whiplash was based partially on his own experiences training to be a jazz drummer in high school). His next project will explore that fascination even further with The Eddy, a Netflix original series that revolves around a fictional jazz club in Paris. André Holland plays a well-known New York musician who manages the club and is faced with a dilemma when his partner’s questionable business practices start to catch up with them. Written by Jack Thorne (Wonder, His Dark Materials), the show also stars Joanna Kulig, Amandla Stenberg, Leila Bekhti, Tahar Rahim and Melissa George. The Eddy arrives on Netflix on May 8th; check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.

I dunno, not too crazy about it, the camera seems to be all over the place. But I’ll probably check it out anyway. Damien Chazelle seems to be going through a change of style, somewhat similar to how Paul Thomas Anderson’s style changed between Boogie Nights and Magnolia to his later films.
