With the summer movie season looking less and less likely to happen this year, Netflix’s upcoming original movie Extraction might be the closest we come to seeing a big budget action movie over the next few months. Written and produced by The Russo Brothers (Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame) and based on the Oni Press graphic novel Ciudad, this is an action-thriller that stars Chris Hemsworth as a black market mercenary who is hired to rescue the kidnapped son of an international crime lord. It takes place in Ciudad del Este in Paraguay and the movie is directed by long-time stunt co-ordinator Sam Hargrave, who also did second unit directing on the last two Avengers movies, Deadpool 2 and Atomic Blonde. Certainly the title and the plot seem pretty generic but here’s hoping the R-rated action makes up for it. Extraction arrives on Netflix on April 24th; check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.
