I love Frankie calling out Jay for loving Viy (which is great). So watching a movie for the first time is considered a “force feed” now?

Aren’t all movies we all watch for the first time basically in hopes it can crack our top 100? 99.9% chance they won’t but for someone who watches Grown Ups 2 hoping for a potentially “great film” (see: Friday the 13th Premium), you gotta understand that.

Also, in regards to Viy, kind of surprised Jay didn’t seem to get a Sam Raimi vibe, which the end segments for me had a big Evil Dead 1&2 feel to me as the camera work goes.

  • Beat_C

it was so funny to hear all of your perfectly while the same was obviously not the case between each other.

  • Jay Lee

Maybe I missed it, but what is the rationale for not including Tomb Raider (in whatever form…. preferably the first Jolie adaptation) in the video game movie thing?

  • Sean

I think we mainly wanted to focus on ’90s stuff but for the last spot we were debating between Doom and Lara Croft. Doom won out… you’re welcome. :)

  • Jay Lee

Frank is right (never thought I’d say that) The Rock is ass….. 100% ass.

Looking forward to the Video Game Movie Premium!!!

  • Lori Cerny

    Thank you!!!!

BTW, I’ve taken Frankie’s method to heart and now listen to your casts in 10 minute chunks – need to make media last the quarantine.

I actually have less time now on quarantine to listen to podcasts. Well, technically no, but I normally listen to a ton of podcasts, but mostly listen on drives or while at work. Not working, and driving way less now, so I’m finding it very difficult to squeeze my normal amount of podcast listening so I’ve been listening to only the essential like 5 or so shows (Film Junk/Game Junk) being among them (at the top of the list) while washing dishes or downtime around the house, With no work, and no baseball to watch, have just been watching a ton of movies during time not helping kids with schoolwork.

I watched the 2018 one recently and was pleasantly surprised. It might be a decent retro review at some point down the line, maybe when the sequel comes out. Here’s hoping Ben Wheatley still directs that too. Something still sounds too good to be true with that.

There is an Arrow sale on iTunes right now. 2.99 apiece and most come with special features. Apple steppin up there extras! It’s a quarantine christmas.

  • Studios should bundle similarly themed movies if they’re going to ask $20 for a fucking rental. Maybe the new release gets $15 and the bundled flicks split the other $5.

Invisible Man, get a nice rental 4 pack going : 2020 Invisible Man, Hollow Man (2000) & Memoirs of an Invisible Man (1992) & Invisible Man (1933)

The Hunt, package it with Surviving the Game (1994), The Purge and You’re Next.

Birds of Prey, add in Suicide Squad, Tank Girl, Kick Ass.

Emma (2020) toss in Sense & Sensibility, Emma (1996), Pride & Prejudice (2005)
