Coffee & Kareem Trailer Starring Ed Helms and Taraji P. Henson

It’s nice to know that even if we won’t be seeing any new movies being released in theatres over the next month or two, Netflix at least has a stockpile of original content that should last for the foreseeable future. This week they have released a trailer for Coffee & Kareem, an upcoming action-comedy that will arrive in a couple of weeks’ time. Directed by Michael Dowse (Goon, Fubar) from a Black List script by Shane McCarthy, this is a foul-mouthed buddy cop movie starring Ed Helms as a Detroit cop who is forced to team up with his girlfriend’s 12-year-old son to take down some drug dealers. Taraji P. Henson, Terrence Little Gardenhigh, Betty Gilpin and David Alan Grier also co-star. Dowse seems to be carving out a new career path doing movies like this lately (he also directed last year’s Stuber) although Netflix seems like a more sensible home for this these days. Coffee & Kareem arrives on Netflix on April 3rd; check out the trailer below and see what you think.

There’s enough there for me to think this is the worst movie ever made. The bigger concern is that this was only 2:32 of crap. I think the first time this film is played in its entirety the sheer magnitude of crap will cause reality to collapse in on itself as a black hole is formed. I’m grabbing my Teddy Ruxpin and heading for higher ground.
