Connected Trailer: An Original Animated Comedy Produced by Phil Lord and Chris Miller

Successful “projuicers” Phil Lord and Chris Miller have a new animated movie in the works for Sony this year that finds them once again overseeing a project that they are not directing themselves. As with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, there is also a unique visual style here that seems to mix 2D and 3D animation in a new way. The movie is called Connected, although it was originally announced as The Mitchells vs. the Machines (which I think is a better title), and it is written and directed by Gravity Falls creative director Michael Rianda and Jeff Rowe (Disenchantment). The plot revolves around a family on a road trip who suddenly find themselves faced with an apocalyptic uprising of all of the world’s gadgets and devices. It seems a little on the nose but I suppose the idea does have some potential. Connected features the voices of Olivia Colman, Maya Rudolph, Abbi Jacobson, Danny McBride and Eric André and it hits theatres on Sept. 18th; check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.
