Jordan Peele’s Candyman Trailer

Here is the first trailer for Universal’s upcoming reboot / spiritual sequel to the ’90s urban horror classic Candyman, directed by Nia DaCosta (Little Woods) and written and produced by Jordan Peele (Get Out, Us). The story revolves around a visual artist and gallery owner who move into a gentrified neighbourhood in Chicago that was the previous site of a housing project. When the artist starts to incorporate elements of a well-known urban legend from the area into his work, he opens a dark door to the past that brings a wave of violence with it. The new movie is believed to be bringing back Tony Todd in the title role although he is nowhere to be found in this trailer. Candyman stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Teyonah Parris, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Colman Domingo and Vanessa Williams and it hits theatres on June 12th; check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.

Didn’t realize this was going to be a pseudo-sequel. If Todd is back I’m in for sure.

I think the original Candy Man is passing the hook, to the main actor.

  • Jameson

Looks good. I like this new angle they’re taking with the character. And with Jordan Peele involved I’m in.

  • Tim

Visuals look interesting, and nice it’s seemingly an all black cast. I’m in.

  • Tim

    Heh, “pass the hook, please”!

  • Ben Bueno

I wish they would’ve just made an original movie instead

    Tony Todd!
