A few years ago, we heard that a feature-length Transformers CG animated movie was in development that would explore the history of Cybertron. Although the status of that project is currently unclear, this week Netflix has released the first trailer for their upcoming CG animated series, Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy, which seems to tread similar ground. The show is set to air in three separate seasons or arcs starting with this one, a six-episode series entitled “Siege”, taking place in the final hours of the civil war between the Autobots and Decepticons. This does not seem to be connected to any of the live-action movies including Bumblebee, which opened with a scene on Cybertron, but it does feature G1 designs and feels a little more mature than most previous Transformers animated shows we’ve seen. The show is being animated by Polygon Pictures, the Japanese studio responsible for Transformers: Robots in Disguise, Star Wars Resistance and the recent Godzilla anime features. Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy: Siege is coming to Netflix sometime in the near future; check out the trailer below and see what you think.
