Between Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle and Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, we’ve already seen a couple of successful TV shows exploring the potential spread of fascism across America. Now HBO is throwing their hat in the ring with an upcoming adaptation of Philip Roth’s The Plot Against America. This is an alternate history novel that finds Charles Lindbergh defeating Franklin D. Roosevelt in the 1940 presidential election and turning the country towards xenophobic and anti-Semitic policies. The show is created and written by David Simon and Ed Burns (The Wire) and it is a six-episode miniseries starring Zoe Kazan, Morgan Spector, Winona Ryder and John Turturro.
