David Lowery has had an interesting career as a filmmaker thus far, alternating between mainstream Disney projects like Pete’s Dragon and indie art house films like A Ghost Story. He currently has a live-action Peter Pan movie in development at Disney as well, but before that happens he will release a fantasy film set up at A24. The Green Knight is described as a re-telling of the medieval story of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight (Gawain being King Arthur’s nephew). However, this is clearly not a big budget action-oriented take on the material, seemingly placing more emphasis on atmosphere and mood instead. The Green Knight stars Dev Patel, Alicia Vikander, Joel Edgerton, Sean Harris, Sarita Choudhury, Kate Dickie and Barry Keoghan and it hits select theatres on May 29th; check out the teaser trailer below and let us know what you think.
