Spiral: From the Book of Saw Trailer Starring Chris Rock

spiral

It was unexpected news when Lionsgate announced last year that Chris Rock would be helping launch a new spin-off in the Saw franchise and it left many fans wondering if the movie would be a comedy. Now this week they have dropped the first official trailer for the movie and it would appear that it is actually a buddy cop movie… albeit a rather grim one. Rock is not directing (for that, they went back to series veteran Darren Lynn Bousman) but he does star in the movie, playing a police detective investigating some gruesome serial murders alongside his rookie partner (Max Minghella). Samuel L. Jackson and Marisol Nichols also co-star. Is this the fresh re-invention that the franchise desperately needs for its ninth installment? Spiral: From the Book of Saw hits theatres on May 15th; check out the trailer below and see what you think.

You had me at “Saw.” Now I’ll have to re-watch the whole series, again.

  • Jonny Ashley

It looks like a real movie now and not a tv show anymore. Better pop on that premium, boys, this series is only gonna get longer.

  • Sean

If they release an 8-movie collection on 4K for $20, I’m in!

Seriously though, this might be the first Saw movie I watch since the original.

Someone beat me to it, but I’ve been asking for it for awhile: let’s get a Saw premium!
