New to Theatres This Weekend: The Rhythm Section, Gretel & Hansel, Beanpole

It’s a pretty typical January weekend to end off the month with very little in the way of major releases, although that is no doubt compounded by the fact that it is also Super Bowl weekend. The Blake Lively spy thriller The Rhythm Section is the biggest release hitting theatres this week along with Oz Perkins’ dark fairy tale adaptation Gretel & Hansel. Given the lack of competition, Bad Boys for Life is expected to stay at the top of the box office for the third weekend in a row. In select theatres, we also have the acclaimed Russian film Beanpole and the #MeToo drama The Assistant from the director of Casting JonBenet, not to mention the Taylor Swift documentary Miss Americana (which is also now out on Netflix). What will you be watching this weekend?
