After teaming up for three well-received movies based on true stories, Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg stumbled a bit with their fictional 2018 action thriller Mile 22. Originally envisioned as the start of a new franchise, the movie was a disappointment critically and commercially. Now Berg and Wahlberg are back with an adaptation of the crime novel Robert B. Parker’s Wonderland for Netflix and at the very least it seems to have some of the humour that was apparently missing from Mile 22. Wahlberg plays an ex-cop named Spenser who gets out of prison and agrees to help his old boxing coach train a promising young fighter (Winston Duke). Following the murder of two former colleagues, however, he recruits the same fighter to help him get to the bottom of it. Spenser Confidential co-stars Alan Arkin, Iliza Shlesinger, Bokeem Woodbine, Marc Maron and Post Malone and hits Netflix on March 6th; check out the trailer below and see what you think.
